Iron Furnace Cleanup/Restoration

Megan Royer, daughter of Robert and Karen Royer, Marengo Road, received the Baileyville Grange FFA Senior Leadership Award for her outstanding leadership abilities. Baileyville Grange Master, Charles Richard, presented the award to Megan at the 2017 State College FFA banquet in April.
Cody Harpster, son of Genia Harpster, Tadpole Rd, received a Farm Show Foundation Scholarship that assists outstanding 4-H and FFA youth. Cody is currently a freshmen at Penn State University studying immunology and infectious disease. At the 2017 Farm Show Clayton Landis, son of Wendall and Emily Landis, Tadepole Rd, showed a Herford heifer receiving 2nd in both Junior Show and Open Show; and showed an Angus heifer receiving 2nd in Junior Show and 3rd in Open Show. At the 2017 Farm Show, Emilie Campbell, daughter of Roy and Lisa Campbell, Whitehall Road, showed her Maine Anjou Heifer in the Open Show and honored as Champion; also in the Open Show her Mainetainer Heifer received 1st place. |
See the work being done to uncover the old iron furnace on Johnson Road. A small group of dedicated volunteers have been working to clear the brush so the furnace remains are visible. Some exciting findings have been uncovered - like an additional stack that was first thought to be a limestone kiln, but now looks like a possible furnace. Like to Help?
